Chasseurs de dragons (aka Dragon Hunters) - Movie Review (Repost)

Friday, July 5, 2019

Zoe is a little girl who believes in fairy tales. In order to help her uncle Lord Arnold get rid of a terrible dragon, Zoe decides she has to find some heroes. When she meets Gwizdo and Lian-Chu - a couple of two-bit, fly-by-night dragon hunters, she decides that she's going to believe in them and set out on an adventure to bring peace to the land.

The story was okay. It definitely had really good moments, but it was also plagued with long boring bits. The characters were great, especially Lian-Chu. However, the best thing about this film is the world in which the story takes place. The landscapes are absolutely beautiful and I found them to be the perfect portrayal of a fantasy land where dragons could exist. I also really enjoyed the unique style of the dragons. I watched the English dub and the voice-acting was a little distracting for me.
The actors lacked emotion where they needed it and went overboard to the point of feeling cheesy in other moments. I enjoyed it, but I do not see myself rewatching it unless I am extremely bored.
