MotM Review: The Rabbi's Cat (Le chat du rabbin)

Wednesday, March 28, 2018

Set in Algeria in the 1920s, a rabbi's cat who learns how to speak after swallowing the family parrot expresses his desire to convert to Judaism. (IMDB)

It is not often that a film makes me laugh out loud, let alone several times, but that is actually what The Rabbi's Cat managed to do. The behavior of the cat was realistic (I'm a cat lady...this was important to me.) and the animation style was fantastic. It somehow managed to be both highly detailed and minimalistic at the same time. While the star of the film is technically the cat, the other characters are equally interesting and entertaining.
